Experience the highlights of the Mexican Riviera's ocean wildlife including giant whale sharks and green sea turtles. You'll also explore the Mayan ruins of Tulum and Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrive to Isla Mujeres

Meet and greet your driver at the Cancun Airport for a door to door transfer including a ferry ride to hotel Na Balam in Isla Mujeres. (No meals included)

Days 2 - 3: Whale Shark Excursions

For the next two days, you will spend your mornings with the world's largest fish, the docile whale shark. Your group will join a boat (10 people maximum) that heads out to the best spot to find the whale sharks.

The excursion leaves each morning at 8 am, returning by 1-2 pm for lunch. Tour includes all gear, drinks, and a guide.

Whale sharks are one of the ocean's most amazing creatures. Little is known about their life history but they are not aggressive to people and feed on algae floating in the waters.

Your afternoons will be free to explore the island and surrounding waters.

Day 4 - Transfer to Tulum

Today you will meet your driver at the hotel lobby for a private transfer to the Cesiak Hotel in Sian Ka'an, home for your following 3 nights. Cesiak is one of the most eco-friendly lodges in the region and is located in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve.

En route we will visit Tulum Archeological Site, considered to be one of the most beautiful Mayan archaeological sites. This beautiful site sits on 50 foot high cliffs above the sea.

After the site you will enjoy a free time for lunch before moving on to Sian Ka’an.

Day 5 - Sian Ka'an & Sea Turtles

Today after breakfast you will meet your guide for an amazing encounter with modern and ancient Maya at the forest and wetlands of Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve.

Today includes a soft walk on the largest coastal Mayan archaeological site at Muyil is combined with a boat ride in a beautiful lagoon and an easy swim in a river. This tour is a great opportunity to see the deep knowledge that the ancient Mayans developed about the ecosystems on the Yucatan Peninsula.

There are good chances are to see terrestrial and aquatic wildlife including birds. End the day with a super lunch served with Mayan cuisine.

After some downtime in the late afternoon, your guide will take you this evening to a green sea turtle nesting beach at Xcacel. The four hour tour lasts from 9 pm to midnight and includes a presentation by a local biologist and a beach walk looking for nesting turtles.

Day 6 - Punta Allen Eco-Adventure

The Punta Allen Eco-adventure tour is an unforgettable one day journey to the most preserved portion of the Yucatan Peninsula's coral reef. It starts with a local bilingual guides who picks you up at your hotel and drives along the coastal road between Tulum and Punta Allen.

On a boat ride to the lagoons towards the fishing town of Punta Allen, we will stop on at a small mangrove island, a breeding site for seabirds. Colored rosette spoonbill can be found keeping company with herons, ibis and egrets.

A cenote (a small freshwater lagoon lined by limestone) gives your local guide the opportunity to explain the hydrology of the Yucatan peninsula and the relationship between cenotes and the distribution of the manatee populations.

In town you will experience the peaceful and quiet lifestyle of the Punta Allen community. Learn how they have developed a conservation-oriented, profitable way of life using the ocean resources and their fishing expertise. Then test the fit of your snorkel gear, order a meal for lunch, and prepare for your boat tour.

During an hour of exploring the amazing underwater world of the coral reef, you will see thousands of colorful fish and other marine animals that live in this fragile ecosystem.

After lunch, you will hike on a trail between the town and the Laguna Negra (Black Lagoon) to learn about the criteria that UNESCO used to declare the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve a World Heritage site. Heading back, you can enjoy the wonderful landscapes that the sunset provides over the lagoons and arrive at your hotel by evening.

Day 7 - Return to Cancun Airport

Meet your driver at the hotel lobby for a 2 ½ hours transfer from the Cesiak Hotel to the Cancun Airport.
