Alaska whales, glaciers, rainforests, and more! On a Maple Leaf Adventures sailing cruise, your exploration of this state's impressive wilderness differs from typical cruise ships.

You will be part of an intimate group of just eight people to experience the grandeur of Alaska by becoming a part of it. The cruise will explore remote islands and witness the silence of ancient temperate rainforests.

Observe humpback whales, grizzly bears, and seabirds including tufted puffins up close, in the company of the ship’s expert naturalist.

ITINERARY

Alaska by Sail Notes:

Note that this itinerary will vary depending on the guests interests, the weather, and the wildlife that is around. This sample itinerary will give you an idea of the typical Alaska by Sail trip.

Day 1 - Prince Rupert

Prince Rupert, B.C., to wilderness anchorage, wildlife viewing, shore excursion with introduction to coastal temperate rainforest.

Day 2 - Ketchikan

Motor-sailing across Dixon Entrance. Look for whales, bears, and other animals. Explore Ketchikan. 

Day 3 - Tongass National Forest

Visit the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the US. In the evening, enjoy kayaking by moonlight.

Day 4 - Wrangell Narrows

Pass through the 22 mile long Wrangell Narrows Channel.

Day 5 - Fjords

Anchor at the entrance to a fjord with view of ice bergs and look for whales and sea lions.

Day 6 - Tidewater Glaciers

Cruise a spectacular fjord to view a tidewater glacier, explore of ice bergs, and view wildlife.

Day 7 - Prince Frederick Sound

Prince Frederick Sound is a great spot for whale watching, viewing bears, and exploring estuary meadows.

Day 8 - Baranof Hot Springs

At Baranof Island, visit hot springs, take a nature hike, and cruise the "waterfall coast".

Day 9 - Bear Viewing

Cruise to the west coast, looking for bears and taking forest and beach hikes.

Day 10 - West Coast Wilderness

Explore the west coast wilderness. Visit a seabird island, explore the intertidal life, look for sea otters, and relax at remote hot springs.

Day 11 - Sitka Tour

Take a guided tour of Sitka to learn about this unique town's long history, including Tlingit and the Russian historical town. Stay at a Sitka hotel and enjoy a special last night's meal.

Day 12 - Free time in Sitka

On your last day, spend some free time in Sitka and take the bus to the airport.
